CITYWEST INSTALLS PRO-ACTIVE NETWORK MONITORING SYSTEM

Terrace, BC. CityWest Cable and Telephone Corp., the largest television provider in the northwest, today announced the installation of a new network monitoring system provided by Arcom Digital. Arcom’s Hunter System is a pro-active network monitoring system that “hunts” for network faults that could potentially be service affecting now or in the future. The system is able to pinpoint the location of the fault, saving troubleshooting time for technicians.

“We’re monitoring every segment of the network to identify and capture potential service affecting problems,” said Rob Brown CEO of CityWest Cable and Telephone Corp. “Our technicians in Terrace have been impressed so far at the ability of this system to find the smallest of problems so we can repair it before a major degradation of service and before customers notice and call-in. So rather than being reactionary and waiting for a problem to happen, we are being pro-active and repairing problems before they are a problem for customers. It all adds up to better quality of service, for video, internet and voice services. The quality of the connection drives the quality of the service and that’s definitely worth focusing on,” said Brown.

With a successful deployment of the system in Terrace, CityWest has plans to implement the same system in Prince Rupert and Kitimat in future.
